ok so obv you paid zero attention to the text or vids in the post above
we won the division on week 17, and beat the colts 41-0 in the first round before a 10-10 halftime tie turned into a 30-10 div round loss to the eventual AFC champ raiders. we were 1-4 before vinny was benched and pennington got the nod and it was all gravy from there pretty much...went from 2-5 to 7-6, lost a HEARTBREAKER in chicago week 15 when chrebet fumbled on what wouldve been te game winning drive, i definetley cried after that game, and then week 16 we beat new england and it set up us and the pats at 8-7 and the phins at 9-6.
on week 17 miami played new england in foxboro, a win gave them the div but a pats win and a Jets win at home over the pack aka best team in the NFL at the time would give us the div. additionally, if miami won and so did we, then we needed mike vick n atlanta to beat the browns so we'd be in with the WC, since cleveland owned the tie breaker after beating us tht year in a fluke fuckin game i also saw live. miami got off to a 14-0 start which became 24-13 before the Pats came roaring back to tie it with seconds to spare. Meanwhile in cleveland willie green brought one back for like 65 yds and the brownies stopped vick 4 and out and goal and won. it was around this point we were heading up the meadowlands escalators towards our seats for the Jet game.
now, the pats/phins game was still going on in OT when the Jets started (1:00 and 4:00 games) but the browns had already won, the phins were dominating all game so we were prettty much thinking the game was for nothing, but halfway thru the 1st qtr the pats won in OT (thanks, vinatieri!) and the place went absolutely bat shit over something that didnt even occur in the stadium, nor was in playing on the screens. me and my section knew cause my dad had a radio on him so we were listening intently not even focusing on the lie NFL action.
so yeah, once that stage was set we pretty much kicked the shit outta the Pack, it was 14-10 at half and then we made it rain for a 42-17 victory, but once the phins lost and we were playing for the div, it didn't even matter we had the game won at 0-0

but yea everything about that season just to me reinforced n symbolized everything good in sports. the fact that i was at all the home games made it that much more special. to this day the 2002 Jets are by far my favorite team i ever rooted for, only the 06 Mets come close

I guess it shows you're true blue about it though, I mean historically that franchise has always kinda been in the shitter. This decade they were nowhere near the Patriots, and the highlight of the last 5 years was their fluke playoff run this year. In the 90's they made it to a AFC Championship game, and got buttfucked by Denver. Then just shit, cockboy got you a ring way back though, so that's a bonus. Lots of teams that still don't have one. This year will be interesting. Cause they're hyped to no end, and I doubt they do shit, but we'll see.It sorta reminds of the Titans going into the season last year, coming off a 13-3 year, where almost everyone knew they weren't a "real" 13-3 team. But people still gave them credit. Then they went 0-6. Lol.

i guess but it could be a lot worse...i happen to grow up in a pretty fortunate time period to be a Jet fan, though...we made the playoffs in 01, 02, 04, 06, 09...3 outta those 5 we advanced, 08 we shouldve made it but favre got hurt...pennington was always getting injured so we never made it consec years which hurt us, but things like tht are unforeseen so at the same time we weve been pretty set going into every season since 98 n theres at least been a pretty good deal of faith n enthusiam going into every season since 98...and if we did have a bad season it was strictly because of injury and not because of fielding shit teams

The Jets are dead fucking serious this year.... so I guess it was tough to be a Jets fan, but they are primed this year. They just need to keep the headcases in check. I.e Holmes, i.e Rex Ryan.

Better to be a Jets fan than a Lions fan.

I'm used to it. With Suh and Best, we may have an actual NFL team this year.

I loved their draft this year. Jahvid Best was a steal and a half.

Jahvid Best isn't really that good. <=/. He's a homerun type guy, but in terms of a all around runner, Kevin Smith is a lot better. Best is gonna make a pretty solid 3rd down threat. But I personally don't think you use a 1st round pick on a 3rd down back. Not to mention, Detroit took him because of Smith's injury. I don't know how wise it was to take a guy like Best to carry the load considering he has a history of injuries himself. I just wasn't that high on any backs in this draft, I really liked John Dwyer and he went in the 6th, Gerhart I also think will be really good.
Suh though, he's amazing. He'll be the anchor of that D for years if they can actually give him some help. It's jsut hard to imagine a franchise like Detroit making themselves better because of their history of being terrible. I do like their current pieces though, Stafford, Calvin, Smith, Suh, Delmas. But they still have a ton of holes, and are in a division where 2 of the teams should win 10+.

I dont think Jahvid Best is going to set the world on fire... I just think hes a good guy to compliment Kevin Smith, especially because Kevin Smith hasnt been setting the world on fire himself. I think theyll make a good combo, and it was a good pick, IMHO in that spot by the Lions. Filled a need, because honestly Kevin Smith will get hurt this year, and next year, and the year after that. Its what he does. And despite the fact that Jahvid Best, is also a sheet of glass when it comes to injury, hes a much better fallback plan than Maurice Morris. And yes, I agree, Toby Gerhart is a fucking monster, and will tear it up when he gets the ball in Minnesota.
