www.ringsidecollectibles.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=RING-025&Category_Code=WRINGSSo, you know the deal, everyone has been clamoring over the concept of a Real Scale Ring since Jakks introduced theirs back in 2005 (I was one of the first to receive it, which leads to some TWF history, but I digress) and Mattel is preparing to release their "Version 1" by the end of summer. Will you buy it? Pass on it? Do you think it will trump/equal/fall inferior to Jakks' various attempts? Obviously, it should have no trouble matching up to the first Real Scale Ring (flaws and all) that appeared five years ago, but what do you expect Mattel to do with it from there? Will there be ring gear packs like Jakks often considered, but ultimately shrugged off for their Real Scale Ring? Or, will there be multiple rings for Raw/SmackDown/WrestleMania/etc all released around the same time or every few months? That is what we saw for the debut of the Mattel line back in January when their variation of the Spring Ring was redecoed for the Raw, SmackDown, and ECW shows. Those rings only cost $15, and I don't know if two or more Real Scale Rings all priced at $60 each will be flying off the shelves. I would guess that Mattel doesn't release anything for several months in order to determine the success of sales for their first RSR. I, for one, can't wait to see what the final product looks like, but I don't plan on preordering it unless I'm blown away by the quality of the ring.

It does look like one awesome ring. Not sure how I like those turnbuckle pads. I stopped collecting awhile back but, I must say the first released RSR is what got me back into collecting for a bit.

I actually like the idea of the snap-on pads more than the so-damn-difficult to put togther foam stuffed pads.
I would say I'm strongly interested, but I'll hold off until I see the finished product before throwing down the money.

Yeah, I like the look of these pads, too, and hopefully there won't be an issue with having to adjust anything or fiddle around with the pad's contents like Jakks' turnbuckles often required.
They also look more realistic. In fact, the same could be said for the ring steps with the slots on the sides where a figure's hands might fit.
I'm mainly interested in the cushioning of the mat since it took Jakks a while to get it just right (or at least very close to it). From what I can gather from the prototype, the mat shouldn't be too bulky and actually looks rather sleek (again, Mattel is going for realism here). The floor mats will be another make-it-or-break-it purchase for me, but I have to say that it is almost a sure thing given how I never dropped $75-100+ for either of the modern Jakks RSRs.

You guys really like those pads? They look like hard plastic. I always thought the pads were the best part of the RSR ring. When you would lean anything up against them, the pads would bend down. Made for a more realistic look. I use to have a figure fed and doing any sort of shots with the corners rocked. Like slamming the figures head into the pad and such.

Oh, I definitely liked that aspect, but these don't look like hard plastic to me.
They look more like TNA's turnbuckle covers than anything else, and I'm sure they will be soft and easier for removal. It definitely won't be the same material, that's for sure.

Oh, Like a soft rubber feeling?

Could be, but I was thinking more along the lines of a pleather feel.

The more I look at the pic, the more I dig it, because it just looks so slick and smooth. Jakks RSRs always seem to have a bit of puffiness and bulk to them. When I got my Hell in a Cell RSR I never even bothered with the included mat/padding because of how terrible and bulky they were, so I just used an old shirt and custom made a canvas out of that.

I'm strongly considering it but, as I said, it will all depend on what the final product looks like. If everything is included as pictured, then I almost feel obligated to want to check it out.

As the official figure MOD of TWF. You must fill your obligations! ;D And I wanna kinda see some loose pics lol.

Damn someone front me $60 + shipping right now lol.
I would provide yet another TWF exclusive, five years after the original RSR.

Rumor has it that the first 10,000 Mattel Elite RSRs will include bonus SmackDown ring aprons and blue ring ropes.
I've tried to contact someone on WF about it and am awaiting a response (as it relates to ordering from RSC). If it's the real deal, then that definitely helps my case for ordering one soon.
