They should call me "The Figure Archaeologist" since I'm always unearthing old Jakks WWF (and other) treasures in picture form.
Or at least that's what I like to tell myself.
Jump on the nostalgia train with me and allow me to reintroduce some of this stuff to you.
Starting off with an inconscipuous lineup for the Jakks WWF BCA WrestleMania XIV singles series. The Headbangers could only wish they would receive this amount of detail for their figures. Same with Austin's jeans.
I love these unassuming screen shots taken from (presumably) a WWF broadcast of the newest line of TTL figures. Shawn Stasiak and Stephanie McMahon's proposed debut figures never would be released, and I don't remember The Rock looking anything like that either.
Could it have been Rulers of the Ring Series 3 before Jakks decided to add Stephanie and Eddie and dumped Saturn's black trunks and Malenko's debut Jakks figure altogether?
Everyone's favorite Famous Scenes series (#4) that never was. Then and Now was such an awesome concept, and it's unfortunate we'd have to wait so long to have these looks in the Classic Superstars line.
An unusual Stunt Action display at, I believe, Toy Fair 2001 where a Real Scan Chris Jericho head sculpt is set atop the body of the BCA DTA Tour Series 3 Triple H body. Very odd, to say the least.
Try to wrap your mind around these Cyborg-esque Toybiz WCW prototype figures.
Even better, who wants to go to the beach? As a matter of fact, this series WAS released.
If that isn't enough for you, how about one of the coolest boxed sets ever released by any wrestling figure company?
The legendary STOMP Series 5: Bloodlines set that was cancelled because it was deemed too scary for kids.
A pre-cursor to the CS line...
Who would think to stage studio shots like this one for an upcoming figure series like Jakks did back for the third assortment of the TTL line?
House of Pain British Bulldog and the similarly unreleased Sean Morley action figures would've looked great in any collection.
Thank God Jakks corrected this botch of an X-Pac repaint (in the window) for the Rebellion Series 4 set.
It's too bad there weren't more exclusives to use our Attitude Points on. Fortunately, internet exclusives would fill the void here.
Unless, of course, you were this kid.
Full body scans proved to be a better idea on paper.
They were flexible and unlimited, but Jakks forgot to mention they were also complete shit.
The red backdrop was working overtime here.
Aaaaaand nobody's better.
That's it for now, but I will add more to the thread.
